ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Eve! I've always enjoyed teaching and I found as I pursued education I was most drawn to helping the kids that didn't learn in traditional ways. After getting my degree in Special Education, I've worked mostly in an elementary education setting helping kids who learn differently, but I also have some experience teaching teenagers.

I found that many kids who learn differently don't just need lessons on how to approach math or reading in a more effective way, they also need to learn things that aren't often taught directly in school. Things that help them change their mindset and gain confidence, such as growth mindset, managing anxiety, fixing thinking errors, executive functioning skills, and understanding their learning style. These kind of lessons are what I'm most passionate about. I especially like to focus on lessons I wish I had known as a child, but just weren't talked about as much back then.

Every lesson takes me ages to create. I spend a long time researching, outlining, creating, and then tweaking until I feel good about product. I think I learn more than my students while delving into these topics (especially growth mindset!). I often find I need to try to better implement in my own life the very things I'm trying to teach students.

When I'm not creating, I love to play the piano, do logic puzzles, read, go on walks, cook and bake.

If you ever have any suggestions for a lesson, please submit it! I'm always looking for new ideas :)

-Eve
